Haiti Outreach Ministries, an organization providing education to orphaned and
impoverished girls in Haiti, needed additional educational facilities in order to expand their
capacity and replace one of their current, inadequate buildings. Our design aimed to use
the limited available materials palette in order to provide a climate-responsive space for
classrooms and other school functions.
Integration of climactic conditions drove much of the graphic work for the presentation
book. The primary emphasis was wind and control of airflow through the spaces. A
secondary concern was the construction phasing and how our building fit into the existing
complex. While our immediate client could understand the challenges of cooling spaces
and phasing, potential donors and funding sources may not, requiring our proposal to
explain in a graphic sense what this information implied.
